New Start Every Day – Word of the Week

Week 35

Lamentations 3:22-23
“Because of the LORD’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail.
They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.”

We can live the incredible, abundant life God has planned for us. But to do so, we need to let go of the past hurts and disappointments in our lives.

Sometimes the pain we’ve experienced runs deep, and if we allow it, it can cause us to live like we’re defeated before we even get started. We fall for the lie that says, “Because you’ve failed before, you’re going to fail again and again.”

The truth is, making mistakes is part of being human. We all do it. Yes, it hurts. Yes, we want to avoid it…but when we stay focused on what we’ve learned from our setbacks and we meditate on what God says about our future, those mistakes just propel us forward.

The Bible teaches that you are given a new life through Jesus Christ. When you entered God’s family by deciding to believe in Jesus, you became a new person. In other words, you got a new start!

But we don’t just get a new start when we begin a relationship with God. Today’s verse says that God’s love and compassion is new every morning. First John 1:9 says, “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness,” and Psalm 103:12 says “as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us.”

No matter how many times we mess up, God is willing to give us a new start. Put your past behind you and look to the future, because with God, it’s incredibly bright!
