“Do not grieve, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.”
There is power and strength in maintaining joy.
In any area of your life where you don’t walk in joy, you lose the strength you need to develop and grow in that area. In fact, many people get into sin when they don’t walk in joy. We wonder, “How could someone who used to be so committed turn and walk away?” Often it’s because they allowed the joy to leave what they were doing, and this can apply to marriage, home, ministry and business.
The good news is it’s within your power to maintain your joy. Hebrews 10:35-36 says, “So do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded. You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised.”
When you stay confident that you’re empowered in Christ, that what you’re doing matters and that your relationships matter, you maintain your joy. No one can steal this confidence from you. As Hebrews 10 states, to lose this confidence you have to throw it away.
But you can choose not to throw away the confidence you have in Jesus and what he’s called you to.
God has not made it complicated or unachievable for you to maintain your joy. You are called by God, loved by God, and you have his power within you to overcome anything that comes your way. Hang on to that fact, along with the joy and strength it brings, by spending time in God’s presence, by reading his Word, and by choosing to focus on his promises and provision.
