You are Wonderful – Word of the Week

Edition #38

Week 39

Psalm 139:14
“I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
Marvellous are Your works, and that my soul knows very well.”

In our busy, performance and appearance-focused world, we can tend to get our self-worth from all the wrong places, measuring our worth by what we do, who we know, what we look like, and what we have. But that’s not how God measures our worth.

Psalm 139 provides a great window into what God thinks of you. You are his creation. It doesn’t matter if your parents planned for you or not. God values you and he loves what he created!

You have gifts and abilities in you. You are “fearfully and wonderfully made.” All of God’s works are wonderful, so you were a masterful creation from day one, before you even opened your eyes.

You may be struggling today with who you are. You might be questioning your identity and self-worth. Maybe you don’t like some of the choices you’ve made. Maybe you’ve disappointed people in your life, or you just don’t feel confident right now. Despite these struggles, you have infinite worth!

Developing a knowledge of biblical self-worth isn’t a frivolous pursuit. It’s vital! The more knowledge you gain of what you are worth to God, the more you will live out that worth. Your actions will increasingly align with your true self—God’s opinion of you.

To develop a more positive, biblically-based sense of self, start claiming what God’s word says about you. Look yourself in the mirror every day and say: “God says I am fearfully and wonderfully made. He says I am precious and I am loved, and I’m choosing to believe him!”

This word of the week was brought to you from Devoted with Leon.
